Loft & Room In Roof insulation

Loft insulation is one of the simplest ways to insulate your house. A large portion of your home's heat is lost through the roof area. Filling the loft floor area and walls with an insulating coating will prevent heat from escaping. Loft insulation has a long lifespan, so you won't have to renew it for a significant amount of time . Insulation choices for your loft area include cellulose, foam board, mineral fibre, and even recycled glass mineral wool.

Benefits of roof and loft insulation, if it’s done right

The loft is one of the rooms in the house that loses the most heat. In fact, one-quarter of all heat escapes from the home through the roof. Installing insulation in this area is an effective approach to prevent heat escaping and helps to keep you comfortable during cold weather.

Loft insulation can also reduce the amount on your energy bills and has a lifespan of up to 40 years, and savings  could amount to £200-£250 each year.

The eco-friendly side should not be overlooked. A well-insulated loft helps to minimize a home's carbon footprint and battle climate change. As there is less heat loss in the home, the heating system does not have to operate as long, and the home retains heat for a longer period. This also reduces the amount of time you need to put your central heating on.

Is it suitable for my home?

The best part is that insulation is simple to install in most types of lofts and can be completed within a day in most circumstances.

What are my options for insulating a roof or loft?

  • Cold Loft – a common layout in many homes, where we lay the insulation over the joists on the floor of the loft. To create a cold loft, you will need to lay the insulation over the joists on the floor of the loft. A cold loft is a relatively easy task and is a great way to save on annual energy bill.

  • Room in roof - If you want to utilize the loft as a living space or a spare bedroom, room in roof insulation is ideal. You must insulate all of the walls and ceilings between the loft / room and the frigid area. Insulation will be installed between the rafters and existing plaster walls which will be constructed as part of the room remodeling.
